Nitta Youka: Haru wo Daiteita V01-V14 [5.0]

How should I say this…? Even though Nitta-sensei never missed an opportunity to inject a self-help-kum-by-yah-everyone’s-a-therapist-on-Oprah-moment, I really enjoyed the story.

Fourteen volumes is certainly enough time to develop a character and create a world. Katou and Iwaki’s relationship, from start to finish, seemed very real to me. I loved Katou’s near-blind devotion to Iwaki. And though they are the height of melodrama, two of my favorite Katou lines are:

I don’t know who is to blame!! But I’ll kill even a ghost if it tries to take you away from me!!

Being in love with Iwaki-san is the quintessence of my life!!


In real life, that’s just too much for me to take, but when it’s on paper… I’m just overcome with unnameable, uncountable emotions. It helps that Nitta-sensei’s characters’ facial expressions are just so perfect. Yes they all have the same face with the same straight hairline, but she makes it work. I will admit that after three or four back to back volumes it is a little disturbing, but nothing to get in the way of a good story.
